My Inspiration for the Jane Austen State of Mind Blog


First and foremost, welcome! Thank you for taking the time to read my new blog. I've never had an actual blog before, but I've used social media for many years to share my interests and my thoughts on myriad of topics. I have an old soul that is drawn to anything from bygone eras. I'm an avid collector of antiques and love the idea of holding something in my hand that someone wore or displayed in their home over a century ago. I have been addicted to Jane Austen Fan Fiction (aka, Austenesque Fiction) for nearly a decade now. This addiction has resulted in my becoming friends with many fan fiction authors, and I follow numerous blogs on the topic to stay abreast of new releases, interviews, and book reviews. I am a wife to a fine figure of a man, mother to a wee bonnie lass, and school psychologist/behavior specialist with a doctoral degree in education. While I wrote a dissertation that now sits on a shelf collecting dust, I am brimming over with ideas for my own JAFF stories and am slowly working on my first book. My posts will include reviews of fan fiction books, Jane Austen-inspired trips/events, crafting (e.g., regency millinery), vintage jewelry, adventures in collecting, my writing process, period fashion, and anything else that maintains my Jane Austen State of Mind.

  Less than a week ago, I wrote a post about one of my favorite JAFF authors, Lory Lilian, and her newest book, "The Mistress of All." If you haven't already, please consider reading my first blog post about her and the book. An Enthusiastic Review of L.M. Romano's' Debut Novel, Forgotten Betrothal + Giveaway

  It is my pleasure to introduce and offer a review of L.M. Romano's debut novel, Forgotten Proposal . In recent months, I've been preoccupied by and rather busy with various summer amusements. As a result, my reading has been rather hit and miss. In some cases, it has taken me weeks to finish a single book. Slow reading also tends to be the case when I am not particularly drawn into the story. Sadly, I've also encountered quite a few less than riveting variations this year. Luckily, neither of these issues were of concern with my most recent read. From the minute I opened  Forgotten Betrothal , however, I was drawn in and ultimately finished it more quickly than any book I've read in some time. A Review of Susan Adriani's "Misunderstandings & Ardent Love" + Giveaway

 Today, the Jane Austen State of Mind blog brings you a review of Susan Adriani's new release, "Misunderstandings & Ardent Love." I hope my thoughts on the book whet your appetite for more and move you to read it! First of all, I would be remiss if I did not give a nod to the beautiful cover. Ms. Adriani's work, in my opinion, has become the gold standard for JAFF cover art. If I ever finish my book, I sincerely hope she will agree to design one for me! Lord knows I've compiled quite a Pinterest page full of Regency era paintings to draw from! But, as usual, I digress. I'm sharing my thoughts in no particular order.
